Season premiere Sunday, Sept. 30, 9pm ET/8pm CT on ABC

It’s hard being the new kid on the block, especially if you don’t remember that you lived there before. It’s harder still when not everyone is rolling out the welcome mat for your family. And it’s even worse when that block is Wisteria Lane.

As ABC’s hit series “Desperate Housewives” begins its fourth season, a new family moves to the neighborhood to live in Mike’s (James Denton) house. Joining the cast as Dylan Mayfair, daughter of control-freak Katherine (Dana Delany) and step-daughter of hunky gynecologist Adam (Nathan Fillion), is LA 2000 IMTA alum Lyndsy Fonseca. TV Guide describes Lyndsy’s character as a “goody-goody—cute, polite and well-trained.” But Lyndsy puts it another way: “My mom keeps me on a rigorous schedule and a short leash…almost like a dog.”

In the season premiere episode, “Now You Know,” we learn that Dylan and her mother lived on Wisteria Lane 12 years ago but mysteriously left in a hurry without explanation. Dylan and Julie (Andrea Bowen) were best friends, but now Dylan doesn’t remember Julie or living there before, and everyone begins to suspect something terrible happened in her childhood…something that might have been the reason they moved away. This is Wisteria Lane, after all.

It remains to be seen how IMTA alum Lyndsy Fonseca’s character will cross paths with fellow IMTA alum Eva Longoria’s character, Gabrielle Solis. At the end of last season, Gabby married a politician, only to discover that he wanted her solely to help garner the Hispanic vote, so she fled to the arms of her first husband who now wants her to run away with him.

Fonseca has had a busy year leading up to her role on “Desperate Housewives.” In 2007 alone she has appeared in episodes of “Heroes,” “House: M.D.,” “CSI” and “Close to Home,” as well as recurring roles on “Big Love” and “How I Met Your Mother.” Her feature film, the teen drama The Beautiful Ordinary, premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in June but has not yet been scheduled for theatrical release.

Longoria’s highly publicized summer wedding occupied most of her time recently. However, the LA 1998 IMTA alum managed to fit in filming of the comedy Over My Dead Body with Paul Rudd and Jason Biggs, and voicing the character of Lady X in the animated feature Foodfight! Both films are scheduled for release in early 2008.
