IMTA Press Release November 14, 2007
“CSI” airs on CBS on Thursday, 9:00ET/8:00CT
“Women’s Murder Club” airs on ABC Friday,9:00ET/8:00CT
Having a guest starring role on a hit prime time series is a coup for any young actor. Starring on two different shows in a week is a sign that things are going well career-wise. For 1997 IMTA alum Riley Smith, it also means his star in Hollywood continues to rise in spite of the cancellation of his short-lived series “Drive” last spring.
This Thursday, Smith guest stars on the mega-hit “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” on CBS. The episode, “Goodnight and Goodbye,” has been highly publicized because this is to be the last appearance of Sara Sidle (series regular Jorja Fox), although it has been said in TV Guide that her role has been left open. Smith plays Jordan Rockwell in the episode, in which Sara questions her future as a CSI when a past case comes back to haunt her.
The following night, Smith guest stars on ABC’s new “Women’s Murder Club.” Based on the best-selling series of books by James Patterson,“Women's Murder Club” tells the story of four friends from different walks of life who come together to form a unique murder investigation team. Their jobs as a homicide detective, a medical examiner, a newspaper reporter and an assistant district attorney give them a formidable range of skills, and their strong friendship provides the basis for the teamwork that's necessary to crack each case. In "The Past Comes Back to Haunt You," Cindy (reporter Aubrey Dollar) is abducted from a crimescene by a young man (Smith) who needs her help. His father is on death row, and only Cindy can stop him from being executed in two days. Meanwhile, series star Angie Harmon’s character gets a disturbing medical diagnosis that could change her life forever.
Smith’s recently completed action thriller Gallowwalker, which also stars Wesley Snipes as a cursed gunman whose victims come back from the dead, has been rescheduled for release in early 2008. In the film, Snipes recruits young warrior Smith to help in the fight against a gang of zombies. Smith is currently filming Make It Happen with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, a drama in which a young girl discovers a new style of dance that will prove to be the source of both conflict and self-discovery. No release date has been announced.
