IMTA ALUMS ARE “OUT OF JIMMY’S HEAD”

Dominic Janes and Jon Kent Ethridge star in Live-Action/Animation Series
IMTA Press Release
September 14, 2007

Premiere tonight on Cartoon Network, 7pm ET/6pm CT

“Following the success last year of the Cartoon Network's two-hour live-action/animation original movie Re-Animated comes Out of Jimmy's Head, a series that continues the adventures of Jimmy Roberts and his animated world with Golly Gopher, Tux the Penguin and the rest of the gang. IMTA Alum Dominic Janes (LA 2004) returns as 12-year-old Jimmy Roberts, who while visiting the famous Gollyworld Park has an accident with the park trolley that requires an emergency brain transplant. Gollyworld doctors give him the frozen brain of the famous cartoonist Milt Appleday, which enables Jimmy to see a whole world of cartoon characters that turn his life upside down wherever he goes.

As Jimmy's best friend Craig, fellow IMTA alum Jon Kent Ethridge (NY 2004) is one of the very few people who have any idea that Jimmy cohabits with cartoons on an everyday basis. And he thinks it's cool. But it really complicates Jimmy's life, only adding to the zany problems any live-action kid would already be dealing with on a weekly TV series.

“With the success of the movie last year, we felt this was the perfect project to launch Cartoon Network into a series featuring live-action characters,” said Michael Ouweleen, the senior VP of programming and development for Cartoon Network. “The series will focus on Jimmy and his everyday life at school which also includes these outrageous animated characters created in the true spirit of Cartoon Network.”

In tonight’s premiere, Tux the Penguin tries to help Jimmy with the school talent show by having him perform some of his jokes, but Jimmy refuses. Tux realizes that Jimmy thinks he isn't funny and runs away, ending up in a dimensional rip as part of a scheme to steal Jimmy's brain.

Janes most recently appeared in the feature comedy Wild Hogs as Tim Allen’s son. On October 21, he returns on ShowTime in his recurring role as Young Dexter in the drama series “Dexter.” He also has a recurring role as Alex Taggert on the long-running NBC drama “ER.” He made his film debut in 2005 with a starring role in the critically acclaimed independent, Instant Dads.

Ethridge recently starred in the Nickelodeon movie Last Day of Summer, a re-make for kids of 1993’s Groundhog Day. He appeared as Young Blade on Spike TV’s “Blade: The Series” (that also starred IMTA alum Jill Wagner), and recently completed filming the drama Frankie D in which he plays Little Frankie D, the young version of the title character (played by Todd Bridges).
