Sci-Fi Adventure Transformers Opens Nationwide July 3rd
IMTA Press Release
July 2, 2007
“It always feels like I have to prove myself to be more than what people think they see. That's part of what I'm fighting right now. People don't know what you're capable of until you actually do it.” – Josh Duhamel
Introduced in 1984, the Transformers took the world by storm with a compelling saga of the heroic Autobots versus the evil Decepticons. The innovative “Robots in Disguise” resulted in a tremendously successful toy line, comic book series, television program and an animated feature film. Now, more than 20 years later, a new generation is about to discover the Transformers legendary characters through DreamWorks’ hugely-anticipated July 4th release of Transformers, a Michael Bay-directed/Steven Spielberg-produced film already drawing praise for the CG special effects.
In the film, a war re-erupts on Earth between two robotic clans, leaving the fate of mankind hanging in the balance. The Decepticons are bent on destroying anything or anyone in their path, but the Autobots fight not only for the mysterious life-force and fuel, Energon, but also to preserve human life. Both utilize their incredible disguise forms, leaving humans caught in the middle and at a tremendous disadvantage, with their weapons nearly powerless against the formidable robots.
Taking a break from the glitz and glamour of his hit TV show “Las Vegas” to don camouflage and artillery, IMTA alum Josh Duhamel fights to save Earth alongside co-stars Shia LeBeouf and Tyrese Gibson. This is Duhamel’s big break into the mega-budget, summer action blockbuster, following his success in prime-time TV and on the big screen with romantic comedy (Win a Date With Tad Hamilton) and thriller (Turistas). Spielberg hand-picked Duhamel for the role of Captain Lennox after seeing an episode of “Las Vegas” in which Duhamel’s character returns from the war in Iraq. “God, it’s so true! Nothing you do falls on deaf ears. Somebody is always watching,” says Duhamel.
Duhamel competed at IMTA New York 1997, where he won Male Model of the Year. While acting takes up most of his time, he has not given up modeling and is the cover boy for the August 2007 issue of the Men’s Health publication, Best Life.
