The Haunting of IMTA Alum Haley Bennett

Halloween Release for Horror Feature

Whatdo you plan on doing for Halloween? If your idea of a good time is to indulge in a screamfest, then you may be in luck with The Haunting of Molly Hartley, a horror thriller opening tomorrow and starring NY01 IMTA alum Haley Bennett in the title role.

News about Bennett starring in The Haunting of Molly Hartley (previously titled She Lived) cheered her fans when the project was announced. Bennett had previously been quoted as saying she was not planning to do horror movies and did not even look at scripts for them.

The haunting tale follows a high-school student (Bennett) who arrives in a new town only to find that her frightful past won't be forgotten so easily. Molly Hartley was all ready for a fresh start in life at a private school, and a kindly classmate was more than willing to help out by showing her the ropes around school. But Molly Hartley is a girl with a sinister secret. Only when she discovers the truth about who she really is will she finally understand what she might one day become. The PG-13 film also stars Chace Crawford, Shannon Marie Woodward, Shanna Collins and Anna Lynne McCord.

Bennett’s next project to hit theatres is Marley& Me, a film based on the memoir by John Grogan in which Bennett has a starring role alongside Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. The heart-warming and inspirational comedy opens Christmas Day and revolves around a family that learns important life lessons from their adorable, but naughty and neurotic Labrador Retriever. Bennett has said her role in the film (the character Lisa) is unlike any other she's done before. "I might have blue hair in it. I hope I do. Fingers crossed!"

Recently announced in The Hollywood Reporter and other trade papers is Bennett's casting in Arcadia Lost, along with Carter Jenkins and Nick Nolte. The independent coming-of-age drama is described as a "Greek holiday tragedy" in which Bennett and Carter play step-siblings whose first family trip is cut short by a car crash. With their parents dead, the teens roam the Greek countryside and befriend an expatriate vagabond (Nolte) who leands them to a mysterious spiritual ceremony. No date has been set for the start of filming.
