Hunky Star Reprises Heroic Role
“
Mr. Bay doesn't do anything small. It's gonna be bigger and badder and cooler.”
– Josh Duhamel
The battle for Earth has ended…but the battle for the universe has just begun. In
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the war between good and evil continues with NY97 IMTA alum Josh Duhamel fighting alongside the Autobots against the evil Decepticons. With the success of the 2007 blockbuster
Transformers, director Michael Bay recast Duhamel as US Army Ranger Captain William “Wild Bill” Lennox. The other lead characters from the first film—including Shia LeBoeuf, Megan Fox, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro—return, as does Executive Producer Steven Spielberg.
The film’s story continues the mythology of the Transformers from the first film that was established by the Hasbro toy franchise and spin-off Marvel comic book series in the 1980s. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots, believing that peace was possible, find out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revived by him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge, and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots may have more to deal with then meets the eye.
A third Transformers movie has already been announced by Paramount Studios with a tentative release in 2012, however there is no word on whether or not Duhamel will return for the film.
Duhamel’s next project—the romantic comedy
When in Rome with Kristen Bell—is currently in post-production. In the film, a successful but single art curator (Bell) goes to Rome to attend her younger sister's wedding. While there, she picks up coins from a reputed “fountain of love,” and when she leaves she is pursued back to New York by a band of aggressive suitors—including Duhamel—whose coins she took. The film is scheduled for release in January of 2010.
