Contriversial Tucker Max Film in Limited Release

"I'm a part of this movie, and the female characters in this movie are so strong and so accessible and are great, women characters that I identify with, so I'm proud of it." – Keri Lynn Pratt

Loosely based on the shocking, ridiculous and sometimes hilarious real life adventures of Tucker Max’s best-seller of the same name, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell follows Max to a friend's bachelor party, where he ensnares the groom in a lie that threatens the upcoming nuptials, abandons his friend to pursue his own adventure, and ends up being banned from the wedding. To get back into the wedding and the lives of his best friends, he has to learn to value others as he values himself, or else face the consequences of losing his closest friends altogether.

IMTA LA96 alum Keri Lynn Pratt stars inthe film as Kristy, the young bride whose wedding is nearly called off because of the antics of Tucker Max. I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell also stars Matt Czuchry as Tucker Max in his first starring role in a feature, Jesse Bradford, Geoff Stults, Traci Lords and Marika Dominczyk.

In a novel marketing approach to generate buzz about the R-rated movie, the distributors presented a “Premiere Tour” of 31 premieres in 31 different cities all around the country, one each day leading up to the opening weekend. The tour was completely sold out in advance, but also generated controversy in several premiere cities with picketing by women’s groups claiming the film promoted violence against women. “I think that sexism is a very serious issue that I don't take lightly,” said Pratt about the controversy. “I think this movie and Tucker Max are not a representation of those things.”

Pratt recently completed A Single Man, with designer Tom Ford in his directorial debut, playing secretary to Colin Firth, who won the award for lead performance at the recent Toronto Film Festival. The film has been receiving great reviews on the festival circuit and has been picked up by the Weinstein Company for distribution. Pratt has also been working on a comedy titled (818) with Beth Broderick and Vincent Ventresca. No release date has been scheduled.
